[ad_1] Paromita Das GG News Bureau New Delhi, 31st Dec. The passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, widely respected for his humility and transformative economic reforms, has been overshadowed by a controversy rooted in the Gandhi family’s political opportunism. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s comments following his cremation exemplify a deeply entrenched pattern within the Congress party—one of exploiting moments of national grief for political gain while conveniently disregarding its own track record of neglecting the legacies of past leaders. To fully grasp the extent of this hypocrisy, it is important to revisit the treatment of former Prime Ministers during the Congress-led government under Dr. Manmohan Singh. Leaders such as P.V. Narasimha Rao (28 June 1921 – 23 Dec 2004), Chandra Shekhar (17 April 1927 – 8 July 2007), Vishwanath Pratap Singh (25 June 1931 – 27 Nov 2008), and I.K. Gujral (4 Dec 1919 – 30 Nov 2012) all passed away while the Congress was in power. Yet: None of these former Prime Ministers were accorded state funerals with full honors by the Congress government. None were allocated a Samadhi Sthal (memorial site) in Delhi, despite their significant contributions to the nation. None had their funerals attended by key Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, or even the then-Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh himself. This consistent disregard for its own leaders’ legacies starkly contrasts with the Congress party’s current attempt to manipulate sentiments around Dr. Singh’s passing, underscoring a selective narrative aimed at reaping political mileage from a solemn occasion. Politicizing Grief: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s Calculated Remarks Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s tweet, accusing the BJP government of neglecting Dr. Manmohan Singh’s legacy, typifies this opportunistic approach. Claiming that the Modi government did not provide adequate arrangements for the cremation, Vadra attempted to incite discontent within the Sikh community, casting the BJP as dismissive of both Dr. Singh’s contributions and Sikh sentiments. — Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (@priyankagandhi) December 28, 2024   Yet, these allegations crumbled swiftly when the Union Home Ministry announced its plans for a memorial to honor Dr. Singh. The decision, promptly communicated to Singh’s family and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, demonstrated a level of respect that transcended political divides. Priyanka’s attempt to create a narrative of neglect, therefore, rings hollow, exposing her broader strategy of exploiting grief to stoke communal divisions and malign the ruling BJP. The Double Standards of the Congress Party The Congress’s feigned outrage over Dr. Manmohan Singh’s cremation arrangements is ironic when juxtaposed against its own history. The deaths of P.V. Narasimha Rao, Vishwanath Pratap Singh, Chandra Shekhar, and I.K. Gujral were treated with notable indifference. Rao, in particular, was subjected to shocking humiliation by the Congress party, which refused to allow his cremation in Delhi, forcing his body to be flown to Hyderabad. This disregard for Rao, who was arguably one of Bharat’s most transformative Prime Ministers, highlights the party’s selective valuation of its leaders based on political convenience. When contrasted with Priyanka’s theatrics following Dr. Singh’s death, the hypocrisy becomes glaringly apparent. A Pattern of Divisive Politics Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s actions echo a broader trend within the Congress party. Her comments resemble her brother Rahul Gandhi’s rhetoric during his public engagements abroad, where he has repeatedly claimed that minorities in Bharat are under siege. This narrative, designed to portray the ruling government as oppressive, often relies on exaggerations and unfounded allegations.
However, such statements stand in stark contrast to Congress’s own history. The 1984 anti-Sikh riots, orchestrated in the wake of Indira Gandhi’s assassination, remain a dark stain on the party’s legacy. Congress leaders like Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler were directly implicated in leading mobs that massacred thousands of Sikhs. Despite the severity of these crimes, the Congress not only shielded these individuals but also rewarded them with political positions, betraying the very community it now claims to defend. By invoking the Sikh identity of Dr. Manmohan Singh, Priyanka seeks to position herself as a champion of Sikh dignity. Yet, this attempt falls flat when viewed against the Congress party’s historical treatment of Sikhs. The calculated use of grief to sow division within a community is not an isolated incident but part of a broader strategy of leveraging communal sentiments for electoral gain. Trivializing Civilizational Issues Beyond the politicization of Dr. Singh’s death, the Congress’s leadership has also displayed a pattern of trivializing issues of civilizational importance. Akhilesh Yadav’s recent comments mocking Hindu sentiments surrounding the restoration of temples are a case in point. His snide remark about a hypothetical Shivling under the Chief Minister’s residence in Lucknow not only disrespected deeply held beliefs but also diverted attention from the genuine cultural and historical efforts to reclaim lost heritage. This tactic of derailing important conversations for political expediency reflects a leadership style that prioritizes short-term gains over long-term accountability. For leaders like Akhilesh Yadav and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, such strategies are attempts to re-galvanize their voter bases amidst declining relevance. Conclusion: A Need for Dignified Leadership The Gandhi family’s actions following Dr. Manmohan Singh’s death are a stark reminder of the depths to which political discourse in Bharat can sink. By exploiting moments of national grief for political gain, they have not only disrespected the legacy of one of Bharat’s most respected leaders but also eroded the dignity of democratic debate. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s remarks, designed to stoke divisions and malign the BJP, are emblematic of a broader culture of opportunism within the Congress party. This culture prioritizes narrative-building over national unity, casting doubt on the sincerity of their concerns for the Sikh community or the dignity of public office. Bharat deserves a political culture that rises above such tactics—one that respects the solemnity of loss and upholds the dignity of its leaders. As the nation reflects on Dr. Singh’s contributions, it is incumbent upon all political actors to honor his legacy with the respect it warrants. Ultimately, the electorate must decide whether to endorse a politics of privilege and opportunism or to demand leadership that values humility, integrity, and genuine service. Dr. Manmohan Singh’s life and work stand as a testament to these virtues—qualities that Bharat must aspire to uphold in its political future.     The post From Mourning to Manipulation: The Gandhi Family’s Troubling Exploitation of National Mourning appeared first on Global Governance News- Asia's First Bilingual News portal for Global News and Updates. The story of Sylvester daCunha and the Amul Girl campaign
Tumblr media
Sylvester daCunha, the legendary advertising guru and the mind behind the Amul Girl campaign, passed away on uesday night in Mumbai at the age of 801. He was the co-creator of the Amul Girl, a mischievous girl with blue hair and a polka-dotted dress, who has been commenting on current affairs and social issues since 1966.
DaCunha came up with the idea of the Amul Girl when he was a manager at the advertising agency ASP. He got the project to reposition the Amul brand, a dairy co-operative based in Gujarat, and decided to create a mascot that would resonate with women and girls. He also coined the slogan “Utterly Butterly Delicious” for Amul butter, which became one of the most memorable catchphrases in Indian advertising history.
The Amul Girl campaign is one of the longest continuously running advertising campaigns in the world. It has featured over 5,000 topical ads that have offered a tongue-in-cheek take on almost every significant event in India - be it a political scam, a sporting achievement, a movie release, or a celebrity controversy. The ads are witty, humorous, and sometimes controversial, but always relevant and engaging.
Some of the most popular Amul ads over the years include:
“Have with Covfefe or Tvea?” (June 2017): On then-US President Donald Trump’s viral ‘Covfefe’ tweet.
“Embracing ya embarassing?” (July 2018): When Rahul Gandhi went up to prime minister Narendra Modi and ‘hugged’ him in the Lok Sabha.
“NEERAJ ON THE THROWN!” (August 2021): At Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra becomes India’s second-ever individual gold medallist in Olympic history.
“Monumental occasion!” (August 2020): When PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
“Dress Videsh?” (May 2017): When Priyanka Chopra’s debut appearance at that year’s Met Gala (more specifically, her dress) made headlines.
“Kiss kis par case!” (April 2007): When Richard Gere came to India, and during an event in Delhi, ended up kissing Shilpa Shetty.
The Amul Girl has become an important part of India’s cultural and social landscape. She has been a voice of satire, sarcasm, and wit for generations of Indians. She has also been a symbol of empowerment, freedom, and creativity for women and girls.
Sylvester daCunha was the man who gave birth to this iconic character. He was a visionary who understood the pulse of the nation and created a brand that is loved by millions. He was a legend of Indian advertising world who will be remembered for his genius and legacy.
Rest in peace, Sylvester daCunha. You will be missed by all who love the Amul Girl.

Priyanka backs protesting wrestlers, says BJP's arrogance is "crushing voices"
Her remarks came after India's top wrestlers on Tuesday intensified their protest demanding the arrest of WFI chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
Tumblr media
NEW DELHI: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday slammed the government over the protests by top wrestlers here, and asked whether it wants to save the culprits in the matter.
The Congress general secretary also said that the pleas of the sportspersons, who enhance the country’s honour were being ignored, and asserted that “when the arrogance of a party and its leaders” is sky high then such voices are crushed.
Her remarks came after India’s top wrestlers on Tuesday intensified their protest against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and asserted that they won’t leave the protest site until the WFI president, who is facing sexual harassment charges, is arrested.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notices to the Delhi government and others on a plea by seven women wrestlers alleging non-registration of an FIR over their sexual harassment allegations against the WFI president, saying these are “serious allegations” requiring its consideration.
Expressing support for the protesting wrestlers, Gandhi said that sportspersons are the pride of the country as when they win medals despite all the difficulties and after working tirelessly, “their victory is our victory” and the whole country smiles.
“The victories of women players are bigger than the rest. They are sitting on the road next to Parliament with tears in her eyes. No one is listening to their complaint against exploitation that has been going on for a long time,” Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi.
“These girls with strong arms and pure hearts believed the government when it told them that there would be an inquiry. But the investigation did not happen. The question of punishment did not arise at all. Does the government want to save the culprits?” the Congress leader said.
Whose pressure is there on the Delhi Police, Gandhi asked.
She also questioned why Opposition leaders are being questioned by the same police on hearing the pain of a girl during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, but the pleas of the sportspersons who enhance the country’s honour are ignored.
Her remarks were in reference to a Delhi Police team last month querying Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at his residence over his remark made during the Bharat Jodo Yatra that “women are still being sexually assaulted.”
The police team had asked him to provide information about the “victims” to take up their complaints.
“When the arrogance of a party and its leaders touches the sky, then such voices are crushed. Let’s support these sisters of ours. It is a matter of honour for the country,” Gandhi asserted.
The wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, have also alleged that the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief is now resorting to strong-arm tactics and trying to break the “victims” by issuing threats and offering bribes.
Former Haryana Chief Minister and senior Congress Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Congress leader Udit Raj and CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat, who was stopped from joining the stir by the wrestlers in January, were welcomed by the wrestlers, at the protest site on Tuesday, a day after they had sought support from all quarters.

Racist Online Behavior (ROB):
I regularly recieve "likes" on my Comments on tweets posted by the likes of Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Ranbeer Kapoor, Sachin Tendulkar, Sanjay Manjrekar, Harsha Bhogle, Matthew Hayden, Mark Taylor, Virat Kohli, Michael Clarke, Joe Root, etc. They also reply me some times. They reply to others too in an impartial democratic manner.
But there are certain celebrities who take utmost care to like "only such comments" which have a blue tick behind the commentator's name!!! For example Sara Ali Khan, Kajole Devgan, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Omar Abdullah, Barkha Dutt, Rajdeep Sardesai, etc. Even when that comment on his tweet goes "Viral", that person has the audacity (or should I call that a bad quality) of being thoroughly arrogant that he will still not consider your tweet  as the one which should get a "like" from him Only Because you don't  have a Blue Tick behind your name!!! How shameful, how racist and how undemocratic is that??🤔 You can like Ranveer Sinh's any worthless comment like "this was a useless tweet" on your tweet because he is Ranveer Singh. But, you can not like a high quality comment on your tweet which has more than 5000 views and more than 400 likes on its own ONLY BECAUSE it does not carry a blue tick behind its author's name?!?? After all, the motive of being on Social Media platforms like facebook, twitter, pinterest, linked-in, tumblr, is to enhance your knowledge and carve out a decent intelligent human being from what a stupid fool you once where. Isn't it? Just ignoring comments from a common man only because its author does not have a blue tick behind his name amounts to a racist, unjust and arrogant behavior - nothing less.
Does a blue tick behind your name on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, certify that you are that prominent living being on this planet who should be given due attention whilst all others who do not have a blue tick MUST be ignored? Does it not create a racist and an artificial environment, where all pomp & show prevails, whilst good decent quality content automatically dies out?
Having said that much about the so-called celebrities, how would you feel if a certain friend of yours starts behaving in a weird manner of late, only because he has migrated to some other country "more developed" than India? A friend of mine, just did that. He was very cordial and warm online with everybody online till the time he got his PR (permanent residentship) from the UK Government! Once he got that, his online behavior suddenly changed drastically. He stopped liking any comment or post or tweet  from resident indian community. All the more he started making rude, untoward and derogatory comments on their posts! Why was this shift in behavior? Because there was a paradigm shift in his thought pattern. Now his new thought pattern was - "Well, look at those millions of resident indians who are living lives of hardships, pain and sufferings inside that dirty country called India. And look at me...! I have successfully transformed myself from an unprivileged,  unknown Indian to a highly privileged european!! So great of me, indeed!!💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 I have left that smelling country behind once and forever and no longer do I wish to go back over there. So why should I treat their posts and tweets with respect?  After all they belong to a hellish place, which I just do not like. From now on, I will render harsh treatment to everything that is indigenously Indian." - It is this psychology that has changed his behavior. It's ridiculous.
More ridiculous is the psychology of a few local politicians and local columnists of some regional dailies, who start behaving like some renowned celebrity and give likes and replies only to those with a blue tick attached behind their names.😃🤣 Nobody knows them outside their region. But still they consider themselves as celebrities.😃🤣

Ahead Of Rahul Gandhi's Appeal In Court, Congress Alleges "Illegal Arrest"
Senior Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, are accompanying Rahul Gandhi to the court.
Tumblr media
New Delhi: The Congress on Monday alleged that "illegal arrests" were being made to prevent party leaders and workers from going to Surat where Rahul Gandhi is set to file an appeal in a court against his conviction in a criminal defamation case.
Senior Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, are accompanying Rahul Gandhi to the court.
The Congress leader will seek suspension of his sentence by the sessions court, sources said.
In a tweet in Hindi, Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said, "There are continuous reports of illegal arrests by the BJP government in Gujarat to prevent Congress leaders and workers from going to Surat." "The undemocratic face of BJP is being exposed again and again," he said.
The Congress condemns all these activities and demands their immediate release, Ramesh added.
Rahul Gandhi will land in Surat at around 2 pm, according to the Congress sources.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Congress Rajya Sabha member K C Venugopal and other senior party leaders will also be in Surat.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu are also likely to be in the city as Gandhi moves court, the sources said.
The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate H H Varma here had on March 23 convicted the 52-year-old Gandhi and sentenced him to two years in jail in a 2019 criminal defamation case filed against him over his "Modi surname" remarks.
The case was filed against Gandhi on a complaint by Bharatiya Janata Party MLA and former Gujarat minister Purnesh Modi for the Congress leader's alleged remarks "How come all thieves have Modi as the common surname?" Mr Gandhi, who had served as an MP from Wayanad in Kerala, made the remarks while addressing a rally at Kolar in Karnataka on April 13, 2019 during the Lok Sabha elections campaign.
The sentence of two years invited his disqualification from the membership of Parliament under provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

Source: Bhaskarhindi.com
